Adventuress On The Waves: Bethany Hamilton

There are many ways to become an adventuress. Most of our posts have been dedicated to ladies who either take to the road on motorcycles or go hiking in exotic locales, but it is always worth taking the time to tip our hats to other adventuresses in all sporting genres. Today we would like to shed a little bit of light on Bethany Hamilton, who many of you might recognize as a professional surfer.

What makes Bethany Hamilton unique is her dedication and incredible tenacity when it comes to performing in professional surfing events. In her childhood, Bethany Hamilton was actually attacked by a shark, which resulted in the loss of her left arm. Despite the obvious handicap, she has managed to become one of the biggest names in female sporting history when it comes to surfing, winning an ESPY award back in 2004.

In addition to her incredible and illustrious surfing career, Bethany Hamilton has also hit the bookshelves by storm with her autobiography, Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board.

We think that Bethany Hamilton has earned her place among the other Adventuresses featured here. We always love to learn more about and then propagate the stories and exploits of those brave females who take charge and end up at the helm of their particular profession or sport. Feel free to suggest other adventuresses that deserve attention - we're always looking for strong women to talk about.

Remember that whether you prefer to adventure on the high seas or on the open road, skin protection is of the utmost importance. Make sure that you take along the best facial moisturizer and sunscreen lotion for your needs when you are having fun in the sun. We at Go Adventuress are as proud of our products as we are of adventuresses - make sure to check them out!
